Betty Norton, M. Ed.Head of School, Coral Springs

Betty began her educational career in Broward after graduating from the University of Central Florida in 1996. She first focused on educating middle school students in Broward County Public Schools, where she gained vast experience working with special populations including Gifted and Exceptional Student Education (ESE) classrooms. Betty would later channel her years of experience into a National Board Certification in 2004 and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2007. With these new tools, she dedicated her time working at the district level to increase the academic achievement of Broward County’s middle and high schools. Betty has also held positions at the Florida Virtual School and Broward Virtual School. 


Miriam Rube, MS
Head of School, Kendall

Miriam has over 35 years of experience in brick and mortar, online, public and private school settings. She began her educational career in 1983 where she gained in-classroom experience before her transition to education management and administration in 1991. Miriam has been a Principal and Head of School at both traditional and online private schools since 1996. During her tenure as Principal, Miriam was appointed to a three-year term on the Harvard Advisory Council for the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Miriam earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s in Guidance and Counseling. She is completing the final requirements for a doctorate in Instructional Leadership and Management. Additionally, she is currently working on her doctorate dissertation on blended learning.

Kenneth B. Bass, M.Ed.
Head of School, Weston

Kenneth brings over 30 years of experience as an educator in South Florida to Xceed Preparatory Academy. He began his career in 1987 as a social studies teacher and athletic coach at Nova High School. He earned a promotion to assistant principal in 1998 serving at Tequesta Trace Middle School and at South Broward High School. In 2003 he accepted an opportunity to serve as a principal in the City of Pembroke Pines Charter School system at the Central Campus and at the East Campus. In 2009, the United States Department of Education recognized the City of Pembroke Pines Charter Middle School as a National School of Excellence. He retired from the public school system in the Spring of 2018. His next journey took him to the private sector of the education field as a social studies teacher at Xceed. Mr. Bass hails from New York and has been a resident of Florida since 1969. He was graduated from Lake Worth High School (1981) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from Florida State University (1985) and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University (1995).
