Betty Norton, MS, NBCTHead of School, Coral Springs

Betty began her educational career in Broward after graduating from the University of Central Florida in 1996. She first focused on educating middle school students in Broward County Public Schools, where she gained vast experience working with special populations including Gifted and Exceptional Student Education (ESE) classrooms. Betty would later channel her years of experience into a National Board Certification in 2004 and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2007. With these new tools, she dedicated her time working at the district level to increase the academic achievement of Broward County’s middle and high schools. Betty has also held positions at the Florida Virtual School and Broward Virtual School. 


Paul Rehage, NBCTHead of School, Kendall/Pinecrest

Paul has an extensive background in science and exceptional student education with more than 20 years teaching experience. He received the following honors for his work; Teacher of the Year, Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Education Award, the Beckman Coulter Science Teacher of the Year Award, Outstanding Teacher Mentor for Exceptional Student Education Case Management and a National Science Foundation Grant.  Paul earned his National Board Certification in 6-12 Science Education in 2009. His students have earned college credit through AP courses, the International Baccalaureate Diploma, College Scholarships, and have grown through authentic life experiences offered by internships and citizen science.

Kenneth B. Bass, M.Ed.

Head of School, Weston

Kenneth brings over 30 years of experience as an educator in South Florida to Xceed Preparatory Academy. He began his career in 1987 as a social studies teacher and athletic coach at Nova High School. He earned a promotion to assistant principal in 1998 serving at Tequesta Trace Middle School and at South Broward High School. In 2003 he accepted an opportunity to serve as a principal in the City of Pembroke Pines Charter School system at the Central Campus and at the East Campus. In 2009, the United States Department of Education recognized the City of Pembroke Pines Charter Middle School as a National School of Excellence. He retired from the public school system in the Spring of 2018. His next journey took him to the private sector of the education field as a social studies teacher at Xceed. Mr. Bass hails from New York and has been a resident of Florida since 1969. He was graduated from Lake Worth High School (1981) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from Florida State University (1985) and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University (1995).
